Any and every Harry Potter fan has always wished for a continued story of Harry Potter. Everyone has always wanted to know what happens after the Battle of Hogwarts, other than what happens in the epilogue where Harry and Ginny are married with 3 kids and Hermione and Ron are married with 2 kids (no surprise for either of those match ups). J.K. Rowling has finally come up with an eighth story, but this is the first story that will be coming out as a play instead of a book. The description of the eighth installment, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, is as follows:
“It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.”
The above description came from the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child website.
Seriously so exciting. The world will finally be able to find out what happens to the future Harry Potter. The play is only showing at the Palace Theater in London, England, and the first show will be premiering here during the summer of 2016. On October 30, tickets for this play went on sale. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be played in 2 parts, and when purchasing tickets the pricing shown included both Part 1 and Part 2. I didn’t know that tickets were on sale for it until that day, and once I realized I went straight to the website to see if there were still tickets available.
There was! I was placed into a queue and had to wait over 20 minutes before I was directed to the website I could purchase tickets through. The cheapest tickets you could buy were 30 pounds, which is around $46 for both plays. At first I was going to purchase these tickets, but then decided to go with the second cheapest tickets instead, which were 70 pounds, which is around $107. Even though the show is all the way in London, I knew I had to go, there was just no question about it. The maximum amount of tickets you could purchase at a time was 6, so I decided to just get the max amount, figuring I’ll definitely be able to find people to go with me.
As is, I planned to get one ticket for my friend Joe and one for my sister because I knew they would definitely want to go, and I for a little bit I was debating on whether or not to buy the max amount because I didn’t really know who else would be good to ask other than my parents. Before I bought the tickets, I called my mom to see if it would be something her and my dad would be interested in since they both like Harry Potter as well. At first when I said the show was in London she was like I don’t think dad will want to go because it’s all the way in London, but after I mentioned that this is the only place Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is showing, she was like “Hmm, well if that’s the case he actually might want to go then, and maybe we could go to Scotland while over there as well.” So she told me to buy tickets for my dad and her and we could figure it out later. So this now leaves me with one ticket left. Chances are my sisters fiancé will probably use the last ticket, but I’m waiting to see if I can think of any of my other friends that would really want to go and could afford going.
The date I bought tickets for isn’t until April 5, 2017, which is still quite a ways away, so I definitely have enough time to figure it all out. I seriously can’t wait to see what Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has is store for all of us Harry Potter fanatics.
